chicago based chris gray has appeared on multiple releases throughout the 90s and the new millennium. while some of his most appreciated works have been published through his own imprint deep4life, for the next pulp release, chris gets deep and melodious with some funked out synths whilst maintaining that lush deep atmosphere that has proven to be his signature mode.

two of paris’ most respected artists get together for their second collaborative extended player this year. dan ghenacia and chris carrier have been entrenched in the electronic scene in their hometown for a long while now, both men building a strong rep through consistently great music and dj performances. earlier this year they joined forces on ‘just a sin’, released via carrier’s adult only label, now they’re back with the follow-up on apollonia. across three deadly tracks, the duo explore their love of music making machines to the fullest – each track taking its name from ‘sweet heart’, translated into different languages. ‘schatzi’ works off a modular synth, bursting out of the blocks with a wobbly bassline which supports a range of subtle effects together with infrequent vocal clips. as the track progresses warm rising pads and female vocal snippets create an entrancing atmosphere. next up we get an arabian twist with ‘habibi’. a pervading air of mystery presents itself right from the off, with warped voices lurking in the background as the rhythm lures you into its murky groove. as the track progresses more eerie pads and effects are layered over the stepping bassline giving it a very creepy feel. finally, french vibes comes through with ‘cherie’ on side b. the track draws its energy from the busy, though crisp, percussive elements and a b-line that groans in unison with the beats. a simple chime remains present throughout, keeping it minimal yet interesting.

with four original tracks from chris carrier, this new ep is based around the original detroit vibe, with a hint of acid. the tracks all take their titles from famous nuclear devices, giving the music a foreboding overtone. rds-1 was the first weapon developed by the russians during the arms race of the early 20th century. the track is deep, driving and morose yet full of life. trinity was the codename of the very first nuclear test in 1945, this track is a shivering acid beast, minimal and absorbing. bwr 3 takes its name from one of the reactors at the doomed fukushima plant, subtle elements of funk flow through this restrained number. lastly comes chicago pile 1, the worlds first ever nuclear reactor, and a track that embodies the ominous possibilities of such an invention.

vanguard sound follows up on guerilla soul’s self-titled ep with label co-head chris mitchell delivering feng shui flow. feng shui flow is an exploration into deep harmonic textures in the form of three distinct offerings. a1 primordial gravitational waves- as the name suggests, inspired by the possible discovery of gravitational waves believed to be reverberations of the big bang. staccato bass and drums provide the heavy background for a pulsing bass wave, accented by synths and chords conjuring up visions of interplanetary manifestation. b1 eurínome- melancholic and intensely emotive chords and bass layered with intricate drums to paint this impression of the mysterious water goddess. b2 4th density- a synth heavy offering with several layers of bass, string like patches, and a sprinkling of choral sounds driven by a pair of kick drums into a plane of telepathy, harmony and ascension.

next up on !organism is a bravely entitled ep from german producer chris colburn complete with remixes from petter b. colburn, who runs his own label rohmaterial, has been making heavy techno since 2005 on labels like 8 sided dice, decoy records and driving forces and this summer is to head out on tour across europe. this new ep shows he is an innovative talent with plenty to say for himself.

following his lotus s7ven album with hector moralez, chris carrier delivers his first full length since 2010 s gosse de paris double-pack. a staple for the french robsoul label, carrier now finds himself in holland writing lps for slapfunk records, a label launched in 2012 that s so far released music from a host of emerging house heads. carrier, now slapfunk s marquee artist, delivers a full listen of smooth and sweet deep house with a slight touch of abstract perlon-isms and creative, almost industrial, sound designs - and a release that ll put slapfunk on the map at that.

cocoon rising start chris tietjen delivers two peak time dance floor bombs, black leaf and raze, for his own moan ep. markus fix and yaya completed it with two monster remixes. a must have ep ready for tear up the dance floor!

here we probably have the flagship of modern day techno music. the planet rhythm label was founded by glenn wilson and has been one of the leading icons in harder, underground club techno. stigmata member andre walter teams up with chris hope for a juicy collab. resulting in their trademark pounding beats and destructive bass-heavy productions this one is bound bound to be caned by all the usual players!

when two talented international producers such as tato and andrew grant get together and join forces, not even superstition that could surround the ominous 13th mallorcan tato - head of the label isgud - and yankee andrew grant are two of the main players for the ibizan club dc-10 and the well known italian party circoloco. oblack - the label from los pastores - united them on this ep and the result is.. carry on reading. the point is that with rewayna, tato, and with the collaboration of the tech master andrew grant, he gives a new twist to this underground house without concesions that characterize his sound.
